Test how the deposit breaks and moves
The site inspects the exposed patch before wider cleaning starts. If the residue forms heavy fragments, the collection route needs to handle them; if it softens into slurry, pumping and holding capacity become the concern. A trial is useful because it replaces an assumption with something visible.
Residue history and a sample, where one is safely available, help select the trial area. Manways, outlets, coils and baffles show where loosened material can gather.
The work cannot move beyond the trial until the site has enough recovery capacity for the fragments, slurry and wash water observed.
Testing and removing hardened tank build-up
Once the trial is accepted, the provider works the reachable floor or shell in sections towards the prepared recovery point. Fixed internals and any surface that cannot be seen are recorded separately.
The sequence can change if the residue behaves differently farther from the trial area. The crew pauses before the collection arrangement is exceeded.
Accessible surfaces are checked afterwards, with remaining build-up and access limits recorded.

Can water jetting remove every hardened deposit?
No. Material composition, adhesion and access affect the result. A sample or trial area can show whether jetting is suitable.
Does the tank need to be empty?
The work area must be isolated and presented in the condition agreed for cleaning. Residual contents and their removal route need to be discussed beforehand.
