Find a workable position beside the water
Access may be from land, a platform or a vessel, and the usable period may change with tides or traffic. The work face, operator position and capture method are reviewed together. Sheeting, screens or local collection keep coating fragments, scale and wash water away from adjacent water. Marine and ports work can proceed only inside that access and containment window.
Working position and water protection
Wide photographs show the work face in relation to the quay, deck or platform. Add the operating window, traffic or vessel movements and any tidal limit on access.
The proposed capture arrangement must prevent fragments and contaminated water from dispersing into the adjacent harbour or watercourse.
Containment between the work face and water
A quay wall, berth drain and vessel surface offer different working positions. Safe access, the tide or vessel window and the place where pumps can stand are reviewed with the method used to stop debris reaching the water.
The equipment position and exclusion area must remain stable for the marked section. Berth activity, vessel position and tide are monitored because any of them may change access during the work.
The cleaned section is presented for its next inspection or treatment, with inaccessible areas recorded against the berth or vessel reference.

Access on working marine and port sites
Marine and ports work can be affected by tides, vessel movements, restricted quayside access and changing weather. The cleaning area, operating position and route for pumps and hoses need to fit the site’s movement plan. Work beside an edge or over water also requires controls chosen by the responsible site team.
Photographs should show the wider access as well as the coating, marine growth or silt to be removed. This helps distinguish a surface preparation task from pipe, culvert or drainage cleaning.
Sheeting and local capture keep coating fragments, scale and contaminated wash water out of the dock, harbour or watercourse. The quotation includes temporary storage and a recovery route appropriate to the collected material.
