Trace the pipe to the collection point
Mark that opening and catch point on the line drawing. The person who operates the system can then flag a branch feeding live plant, a low point where solids settle or an instrument that cannot be exposed to debris. The provider uses those notes to choose the direction of the first pass.
Follow the line to the recovery point
A marked drawing should show the chosen connection and where water will be caught. Add any branch or connected item that operations needs the crew to protect.
If the deposit is uncertain, say what the line normally carries and how flow changed. That may be enough to decide whether a sample or closer inspection is needed.
Cleaning towards a known recovery point
During the first pass, the collection point tells the crew more than the nozzle entry. A change in return flow, the type of released material or a hard stop can support continuing, changing the approach or pausing for the site to review what has been found.
The nozzle works back towards the prepared collection point so released material returns to capture. Afterwards, the accessible bore is checked and any section that remains restricted is recorded.

A drawing is useful only when it still matches the line on site. The agreed section is therefore checked against its accessible connections and any alteration known to operations before a flange is released.
The line contents and recent operating symptoms matter just as much. A gradual loss of flow, a local hard stop and settled material after a long idle period suggest different restrictions. If the contents are uncertain, process records or a sample may be needed before the cleaning method is confirmed.
The work stops at the named section boundary. If debris appears from an unexpected branch or the bore condition changes, the site decides whether the job can continue under the same isolation and recovery arrangement.
After cleaning, the agreed section can be inspected or checked for restored passage. Any damage, poor fall or repeated source of contamination is recorded separately because jetting removes the restriction but does not repair the pipe. Jetting inside the bore requires the line to be isolated and depressurised. The pipe-jetting contractor follows the site permit system and confirms the isolation before rigging begins.
A flange or instrument tapping may provide the least disruptive opening, but the line owner must confirm that point before anything is opened.
The method must reflect the pipe material and its condition. Old or thinned lines may need lower settings and a short trial section before the wider clean proceeds.
Where a branch joins the line, the drawing should show which downstream equipment remains connected while the selected section is cleaned.
